Technology requirements for incoming students

Our Foundations Curriculum incorporates technology for the delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment activities. You are required to bring your laptops or tablets to lectures, group activities such as a case-based learning (CBL), seminars, and in-class assessment activities. If you need to purchase a computing device, the University of Toronto Bookstore offers student discounts.

Most technology enabled learning activities will be web-based and do not require special software installation other than Adobe Reader and a word processor (registered U of T students can obtain free copies of Microsoft Office from the U of T Libraries.

Most assessments are computer based, and are conducted both in-class and at home.

Please visit ExamSoft to review the minimal technical requirements..

In August, you received an e-mail with the subject line “SofTest Installation and Registration Instructions” with instructions on how to download SofTest (v 11) - the secure computer-based application that delivers ExamSoft assessments to students. Please take the practice test to ensure your computer can run SofTest and to help you get familiar with the interface. If you encounter issues running SofTest on your device, contact MD Program ExamSoft Support.
